Day Two of “One Year, One Iowa” Tour: Rob Sand Discusses Agriculture, Childcare
DES MOINES, IA – Yesterday, candidate for governor Rob Sand continued his “One Year, One Iowa” tour, making stops in Harlan and Sioux City. In Harlan, Rob was given a tour of Farm Sweet Farm by owner David Rosmann to discuss their operation and how they have dealt with rising prices on the farm.

Rob then went on to Sioux City at the Crittenton Center for a tour and roundtable discussion about childcare with the Iowa Child Care Coalition, parents, childcare providers, and leadership from the Crittenton Center to discuss crushing childcare costs, how to better support childcare providers, and how to set up our children for success as early as possible.

KCAU: Rob Sand discusses Iowa’s childcare shortages

-
Childcare providers and advocates met with the State Auditor and a Democratic candidate for governor, Rob Sand, in Sioux City on Tuesday to tackle the state of childcare in Iowa.
-
“I think one of the best things that we can be doing right now is making sure that we are using the power of the state to actually help serve regular Iowans,” said Sand. “What we should be doing is making childcare more affordable for everyday Iowans, not doubling the pay of companies that are running programs for the state.”
KTIV: Iowa Child Care Coalition meets with gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand
-
Community leaders and child care advocates met with Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand, a Democrat running for governor, to discuss strengthening families, supporting children and building more accessible systems of care in Iowa.
-
“I really appreciated the opportunity to listen to childcare providers here and hear what they had to say and tell me about the challenges that they’re facing, including a parent here,” Sand said. “A lot of our conversation was focused on affordability. I mean it’s really hard right now, if you’ve got kids in Iowa, to be able to afford childcare, particularly on the wages that many Iowans make, too.”
