Rob Sand for Iowa

7/28/2025

WATERLOO, IA – On Friday, candidate for governor Rob Sand hosted his 18th stop of his 100 Town Hall Tour, visiting Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Rev. Frantz Whitfield introduced Rob, saying “Rob knows that it’s not right versus left, but right versus wrong. He has always stood up to both parties and that’s the reason why voters of all parties are supporting Rob.” After the introduction, Rob was greeted with a standing ovation from nearly 300 attendees, and took multiple questions from the audience.

As the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports, Rob “made his pitch to voters that, if elected, he would bridge gaps with a seemingly inevitable Republican Legislature,” and would be a “governor for all.”

  • State Auditor and gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand made his pitch to voters that, if elected, he would bridge gaps with a seemingly inevitable Republican Legislature.

  • Sand held his 18th out of 100 town halls in Waterloo Friday – more than a year before the election for governor. He spoke at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church to a room of voters filling pews.

  • The Democrat’s campaign slogan is that he wants to be a “governor for all” despite party affiliation.

  • One of his largest talking points is Iowa landing in 49th place in the U.S. for economic growth, and 48th for personal income growth. That number was reported from the U.S. Department of Commerce in June. “We’re literally losing the contests you want to win economically and winning the ones that you want to lose,” he said. “So those issues, to me, are absolutely priorities.”

  • “Rob knows that it’s not right versus left, but right versus wrong,” Whitfield said. “He has always stood up to both parties and that’s the reason why voters of all parties are supporting Rob.”

  • “If anybody came to one of these (town halls), no matter what side you were on, you couldn’t not agree with a lot of the points he was making,” Sanderman said. “He just cares about people.”
