Rob Sand for Iowa

7/14/2026

DES MOINES, IA – Today, nominee for governor Rob Sand launched a new ad titled “Neighbor,” outlining the challenges Iowa families face to achieve the American dream of homeownership as homes and farmland are being bought up by out-of-state hedge funds and LLCs, as well as Chinese corporations. The ad is part of a six-figure ad buy and is running across all platforms – TV, streaming, and digital.

WATCH:

“As a lifelong Iowan, I was raised in the tradition of helping out your neighbors. Now, I’m passing down that same tradition to my two boys. But for too many Iowa families, their new neighbors are corporate hedge funds, big out-of-state corporations, and data centers,” said nominee for governor Rob Sand. “Iowans can’t buy homes because of predatory hedge funds driving up prices, family farms are falling victim to foreign investors, and data centers are being paid with Iowa tax dollars to raise Iowa utility prices. Enough is enough. As governor, I’ll work to keep Iowa homes and Iowa land in Iowans’ hands while bringing down costs.”

Iowa homes are being bought up by out-of-state hedge funds, family farms still compete with foreign investors, and data centers are moving into communities after getting huge tax breaks while Iowans’ utility prices are skyrocketing. As governor, Rob will keep Iowa homes and Iowa land in Iowa hands by taxing corporations and hedge funds that are buying up single family homes, eliminating tax breaks for data centers, and bringing down costs for Iowa families.

“I’m Rob Sand.

I love that in Iowa, you can count on your neighbors to look out for your place or to lend a hand.

But too often these days,

your neighbor is a home owned by a hedge fund,

a farm owned by China,

or a data center that’s getting huge tax breaks while our bills go up.

It’s wrong…

I say, we keep Iowa homes and land in Iowa hands.

And work on bringing down costs for Iowans, too.”
