Rob Sand for Iowa

9/5/2025

DES MOINES, IA – This week, candidate for governor Rob Sand continued his travels across the state as part of his annual 100 Town Hall Tour, making stops in Wright, Hancock, Humboldt, Hamilton, and Story counties on Tuesday, and closing out the week with a stop in Johnson County on Thursday. Rob brought his message of “unity,” “reform,” and “bipartisanship” to each town hall as he aims to make Iowa not redder or bluer, but better and truer.

Watch and read more about Rob’s stops this week below:

  • Iowa’s News Now: State Auditor stops in Johnson County, continuing 99 county tour

    • “People are fed up, which we have been feeling that on the ground. You go to our events and see oftentimes a third of the audience are not Democrats. Republicans, might be Independents, but people are very much interested in what else is going on. And I think we’re seeing people saying that from very unlikely sources.” Sand said.
  • The Daily Iowan:  Rob Sand emphasizes bipartisanship in Johnson County town hall

    • Rob Sand, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for Iowa governor, emphasized an end to the “culture wars” and hyperpartisanship in Des Moines during his Johnson County town hall on Thursday, which drew over 300 attendees to Field Day Brewing in North Liberty.
  • The Wright County Monitor: Sand Brings Reform Message to Clarion Town Hall

    • The folding chairs filled quickly at the Clarion Public Library on Tuesday morning as Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand stepped to the front of the room, sleeves rolled, speaking with the urgency of a man who wants to “flip tables” in Des Moines.

    • That focus on accountability carried into his town hall remarks. From the start, Sand set the tone by calling Iowa’s political system “broken” and inviting the audience to bridge divides — even leading the crowd in a spontaneous rendition of America the Beautiful.

    • The event closed on a note of optimism, with Sand urging supporters to stay engaged. “Whether it’s someone who’s never voted or someone who spent a lifetime in the other party, people know this system is broken. And they’re ready to flip some tables.”

  • Ames Journal: In Ames, governor hopeful Rob Sand wants Iowa to be ‘not redder or bluer, but truer’

    • Sand’s priorities include addressing Iowa’s ranking as 49th in the U.S. for economic growth and 48th for personal income growth, citing stats from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
