Rob Sand Campaign Launches “Democracy Revival” Series in Council Bluffs
COUNCIL BLUFFS IA – Yesterday, the Rob Sand campaign hosted its first in a series of “Democracy Revival” events, part of the campaign’s effort to bring Iowans together across party lines to focus on what unites them. This series emphasizes Rob’s mission to build an Iowa that’s not redder or bluer, but better and truer. Last night’s event brought out two dozen community members from the area to the Council Bluffs Public Library, with roughly one in three attendees not identifying as Democrats.
Across party lines, participants described what they want to see their elected officials focus on — strengthening public schools, improving access to public lands, and making life more affordable. Many said the last decade of one-party control has left them feeling isolated and unheard, and that partisan insiders have put special interests ahead of what’s best for Iowa families. In the deep-red fourth district, Republicans in the room said they want a return to a time when elected officials were accessible — something Rob has prioritized throughout his career, with more than 800 public town halls under his belt.
Participants also said they want a governor who listens to Iowans, brings transparency and accountability back to state government, balances the budget, and works to restore Iowa’s public schools to the crown jewel they once were. Iowans are ready to turn the page on the last decade of one-party rule and elect a leader who will take the state in a new direction.
