Rob Sand Details “Accountability for All” Plan to Prioritize Public Service
Rob Sand: “Running for office and holding public office should be about serving the public, not serving yourself.”
DES MOINES, IA – Yesterday, candidate for governor Rob Sand hosted a press conference discussing his “Accountability for All” plan, a roadmap to restore transparency, integrity, and public service to Iowa government and our elected officials.
During the press conference, Rob spoke about how the problems Iowans are dealing with right now didn’t just happen — they’re the result of a broken political system that’s stopped working for regular people. And if the foundation’s broken, you can’t fix much else. That’s why his first policy plan starts with the basics: getting government back to serving everyday Iowans, not partisan insiders or special interests. Rob’s “Accountability for All” plan includes proposals to ban stock trading, require mandatory prison time for tax thieves, restore the full powers of the Auditor’s office, and more. Read more about Rob’s plan here.

“I think the vast majority of Iowans, no matter where they line up politically, would agree with these ideas,” Sand told reporters at an April 2 news conference. ”… We need to have public service be about public service, not insiders and special interest groups.”

The platform includes things such as banning stock trading among politicians; strengthening whistleblower protections for public employees; adding rules and transparency to the state’s Education Savings Account program; and enacting term limits and age limits.

-
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand told reporters Thursday he believes issues like term limits and age limits for elected officials and mandatory prison sentences for stealing tax dollars can gain bipartisan support.
-

-
Iowa Auditor Rob Sand, who is running for Iowa’s open governor’s seat has laid out the first step in his “Truer Better Agenda.” He’s calling it the “Accountability for All Plan” which he claims will restore transparency, integrity and accountability to Iowa’s government.
-
“I don’t think that the Democratic and Republican party solve enough problems to have a monopoly on our choices,” Sand said. “What I have proposed would give independent voters an equal voice and anybody who says anything other than that are the people who are clinging to power in this state because they’re desperate to keep it.”
-
Now most of Sand’s policies would require action from the legislature which could be challenging if Republicans maintain control of both chambers. However, Sand said he’s willing to make compromises and keep an open mind in order to address these issues.
