Team Sand Announces New Coalition Highlighting Support from Agriculture Leaders Across the State
“Ag Leaders for Rob” consists of over 50 farmers, producers, and agriculture leaders from across the state and political spectrum.
DES MOINES, IA – Today, Team Sand rolled out a new coalition of leaders from across the state supporting Rob Sand and Dave Muhlbauer as their next governor and lieutenant governor: “Ag Leaders for Sand.” This coalition highlights the support the Sand/Muhlbauer ticket has from farmers, growers, producers, and agriculture leaders from across the state and across the political spectrum, and comes on the heels of the rollout of Rob’s “Opportunities for All” plan, which includes several proposals to save and protect Iowa farms, support Iowa’s rural communities, and protect Iowa’s way of life.
“Farmers are the backbone of Iowa, and I know that a strong Iowa starts with a strong ag economy. Iowa farmers are facing a fourth consecutive year of losses, a decline in income, and a six-year high for family farm bankruptcies. Like many Iowans across our state, they’re looking for change, and know it’s time to rotate the crops in state government. I’m proud to have the support of these farmers and ag leaders from across the state and across party lines, and I look forward to working with them to strengthen our state as governor,” said nominee for governor Rob Sand.
“No one works harder than our farmers, and no one will work harder for our farmers and families than Rob and me,” said nominee for lieutenant governor and fifth-generation farmer Dave Muhlbauer. “As a fifth-generation family farmer, I understand the pride our farmers take in their work and the enormous pressure they’re under right now, and so does Rob. But for the last decade of one-party rule, we’ve been left behind. This group of farmers, cattlemen, growers, producers, and ag leaders shows that they know we will always have their backs. I couldn’t be prouder to have their support.”
“I am proud to join other Democrats, Republicans and Independents in endorsing Rob Sand to be our next Governor and Dave Muhlbauer to be our next Lieutenant Governor,” said former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and Governor Tom Vilsack. “Both of these men know from Rob’s experience as an Assistant Attorney General and State Auditor and Dave’s experience as a farmer and county official what it will take to revitalize Iowa’s economy especially in rural areas, to improve our public schools and to make our water safe. Neither will they shy away from the needed transparency and accountability in state government required to regain people’s trust in state government to improve the lives of all Iowans.”
“As a past President of the Iowa Corn Growers Association, I had the privilege of working with producers from every corner of our state. The important thing that I see in Rob and Dave is that same willingness to travel to every single county and engage with all Iowans,” said former Iowa Corn Growers Association President Mark Recker. “They are visiting farms and talking with farmers and ag entrepreneurs to learn how they can support our agricultural economy and improve our rural communities. I encourage all farmers and ag leaders across our state to vote for Rob Sand as our next governor.”
