Team Sand Kicks Off “Statewide Day of Action” as Grassroots Momentum Builds Across Iowa
DES MOINES, IA – Last Saturday, candidate for governor Rob Sand kicked off Team Sand’s first-ever Statewide Day of Action with a canvass launch in Des Moines, energizing volunteers ready to roll up their sleeves to make Iowa not redder or bluer, but better and truer.
Across the state, Team Sand mobilized volunteers in 16 communities across the state — knocking doors in Des Moines, Ames, Waterloo, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Decorah, Mason City, Davenport, Indianola, Dubuque, Marshalltown, Greenfield, Sioux City, Fairfield, Clinton, and Grinnell. With fewer than seven months until Election Day 2026, Team Sand’s grassroots momentum is only building, with two field offices already up and running and a growing on-the-ground operation reaching voters in every corner of the state.

Since day one, Rob Sand’s campaign has invested in organizing efforts in communities across the state, and it shows in the record-breaking 24,756 petition signatures the campaign submitted to officially qualify for the ballot, including signatures from all 99 counties, and over 5,000 signatures from registered Republicans and no-party voters.
Team Sand had an organizing team on the ground over 17 months before Election Day to lay the groundwork for the year ahead. Last year, Rob held 100 public town halls attended by over 10,100 Iowans from all political backgrounds. In the first 24 hours of launching his campaign for governor, over 800 people signed up to volunteer with the campaign, and that number grew to over 1,000 in the first week. Over 7,000 volunteers have signed up to volunteer with Team Sand to date.
