Four More Prominent Republicans Announce Support for Rob Sand
DES MOINES, IA – Today, Rob Sand for Iowa announced support from four prominent Republicans from across the state. Current Republican State Representative Brian Lohse, Republican and former member of the National Corn Growers Association Corn Board Kelly Nieuwenhuis, Republican and agricultural industry leader Brian Jones, and former chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa Mike Mahaffey have announced they are backing Rob Sand for governor this November.
“As a state legislator and city council member for the last two decades, I’ve learned that it’s more important to serve the people than serve a party. I’m a conservative who believes in limited government. While Rob and I don’t agree on everything, I know we agree on putting public service over politics. Rob will do that, and that’s why I’m voting for him for governor,” said Republican State Representative Brian Lohse.
“I’ve known Rob for years, and he’s made clear to me he understands the importance of Iowa’s agricultural economy. Right now, our state is dead-last in economic growth because our agricultural economy is struggling. I appreciate Rob’s willingness to learn and understand the ins and outs of Iowa’s agricultural economy. While I’m supporting Republicans up and down the ballot, I’ll be casting my vote for governor for Rob Sand this November,” said Republican and former National Corn Growers Association Corn Board Member Kelly Nieuwenhuis.
“Rob and I don’t belong to the same political party, but he’s never held that against me. Ever since we first met in Leadership Iowa back in 2013, I’ve known him to be a thoughtful, independent problem-solver of the highest integrity. He puts what’s best for Iowans ahead of any party, and that’s exactly why I’m proud to support him for Governor,” said Republican and agricultural industry leader Brian Jones.
“I’ve been a Republican my entire adult life, and I’ve had the honor of serving as chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa. But this election isn’t about party affiliation. Lohse, Nieuwenhuis, Jones, and Mahaffey join a coalition of over 100 other Rob-publicans – registered Republicans who are supporting Rob Sand this fall – from across the state.
