Montana Republicans Warn of Zach Lahn in New TV Ads

DES MOINES, IA — Today, the Rob Sand campaign is up with two new TV ads featuring former colleagues and opponents of Zach Lahn from his time working as a political operative in Montana. The two ads, “Garner,” and “Montana,” feature clips of Zach Lahn from his appearance in a documentary titled “Dark Money,” which focused on his work for Americans for Prosperity, a dark money organization. The ads are part of a six-figure statewide ad buy across platforms – TV, digital, and streaming – and started airing today.
The documentary and ads feature the work Lahn did in Montana, running a campaign to block Medicaid expansion, which would have blocked tens of thousands of people from having health insurance and would have threatened rural health care facilities across the state. He also worked to pressure Republican incumbents who supported Medicaid expansion, including Frank Garner and Rob Cook, both featured in the ads. Both men didn’t hold back their criticisms of Lahn, claiming “the people of Iowa should be concerned,” and that Lahn has a pattern of “lying to achieve his ends.”
“Those who know and have worked with Zach Lahn know he can’t be trusted to be Iowa’s next governor,” said Deputy Campaign Manager Emma O’Brien. “Zach Lahn is a career political operative who has worked to make it harder for people to access health care and has helped break our politics from the inside. He’s looking for the next rung to climb the political ladder, not interested in solving Iowans problems. He can’t even commit to living in Iowa full time, and this November, Iowans will reject him.”
