Move Over, Headliners: Rob Sand (and Pow) Are Back to Guide You Through Hinterland Music Festival 2026

DES MOINES, IA – Nominee for governor, Rob Sand is returning as this year’s “tour guide” for the Hinterland Music Festival in St. Charles, Iowa, welcoming fans to the festival and sharing everything they need to know for a successful Hinterland experience — with a little help from his dog, Pow.

“Last year, I promised to be your Hinterland virtual tour guide (and forever in your hearts) and I’m happy to report I’m back for another year,” said nominee for governor Rob Sand. “Hinterland is one of the many things that makes Iowa so special. As a lifelong Iowan and live music fan, it’s been incredible to watch this festival grow and continue to succeed year after year. My family and I always look forward to it — and I’m grateful to once again take on the very serious responsibility of helping people have a great Hinterland experience.”

Rob and his family have attended Hinterland 9 out of the 11 years since it started in 2015. Some of his favorite artists and performances at Hinterland have been Kacey Musgraves (2019), The Avett Brothers (2021), Phoebe Bridgers (2022), and Duranda Jones & The Indications (2022). 

This is just the latest way Rob Sand is connecting with Iowans, anywhere and everywhere. From visiting communities in all 99 counties during his annual 100 Town Hall Tour, to biking RAGBRAI, connecting with hunters through HuntingWithRob.com, swapping stories at the Iowa Deer Classic, or sharing updates on Substack, Rob continues to show up, listen, and engage with people across the state. In addition to being Hinterland’s virtual tour guide this year, Rob and his family will also be at the festival.
