New Ad: Zach Lahn Can’t Address Iowa’s Cancer Crisis from Kansas
“Zach Lahn can just fly home to Kansas. Iowans will pay the price.”
DES MOINES, IA – The Rob Sand campaign released a new ad today outlining the stakes of Iowa’s ongoing cancer crisis and how Republican nominee for governor and Kansas resident Zach Lahn’s track record and extreme beliefs would only make things worse. Titled “Here,” the ad highlights some of Lahn’s extreme views that would lead to ban of certain life-saving cancer treatments, and Lahn’s history of supporting budget cuts that slashed cancer research funding and his past work threatening funding for rural hospitals, as well as his frequent flights home to Kansas. The ad is part of an ongoing 6-figure statewide ad buy across platforms – TV, digital, and streaming.

“Iowa’s cancer crisis requires the full-time attention of our leaders. Iowans aren’t going to get that with a part-time governor,” said Deputy Campaign Manager Emma O’Brien. “As if Lahn’s frequent flyer status wasn’t bad enough, he has also supported devastating budget cuts and policies that threaten rural hospitals and makes treatment harder to get, and is pushing for bans of life-saving cancer treatments. While Iowans face the highest cancer growth rates in the nation, they can’t count on Zach Lahn to stick around long enough to address it.”
Rob Sand is the only candidate in this race with a comprehensive plan to address Iowa’s sky-high cancer rates. Read more about Rob’s plan here.

Maybe Zach Lahn doesn’t understand
Because he lives in Kansas, where cancer rates are much lower.
But here in Iowa, number one in cancer growth, Lahn’s plans would have a devastating impact.
Lahn supported budget cuts that slashed cancer research funding and backed a plan that would bankrupt rural hospitals, making it harder to get treatment.
Lahn’s beliefs would even mean a ban on some life-saving cancer treatments.
Zach Lahn can just fly home to Kansas.
Iowans will pay the price.
