“Not True.” Iowa Conservative Talk Show Host Sets the Record Straight on False Feenstra Ad
DES MOINES, IA – Yesterday, notable conservative talk show host Simon Conway took to the air to debunk Republican candidate for governor Randy Feenstra’s new ad, which included a blatant lie about Rob.
Rob was clear on The Simon Conway show last week, confirming that he would have “stood up and applauded” in support of the idea that the first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, saying “I would have stood up and I would’ve applauded. I think that’s pretty basic.”
That didn’t stop Randy Feenstra from trying to spread lies with an ad claiming the opposite. Feenstra’s blatant lie was immediately debunked, and he was exposed on air by Simon Coway who took with the Congressman’s false claims and reckless attack ad saying that Rob “could have not been clearer,” and calling the ad “not true.” While Feenstra’s campaign pushes forward dishonest and misleading messages, Conway claims the Congressman – and politics and public service as a whole – “need to be better than that.”

- “This is awful. It is a terrible look. The insinuation is that Rob Sand would have sat down. The answer is six days ago he could not have been clearer. He couldn’t. He’d have stood up. I don’t care if you like Rob Sand, I don’t care if you like Randy Feenstra. I don’t care. It doesn’t make any difference to the thing we are talking about right now. We need to be better and this is Iowa by the way in case you weren’t looking. We need to be way better than that.”
- “Here’s what we practice on this show. We practice the truth and we practice transparency, Dan. The bottom line is you have a commercial that is running, apparently it’s a big commercial, it’s a seven figure ad buy. It says Rob Sand would have sat down and that’s not true. It’s not true.”
- “You have the truth. The truth is Rob Sand would have stood up and applauded when President Trump said to pick a side. Said he would have stood up and applauded.”
- “I am not by the way defending Rob Sand or anyone else, I am simply telling you the truth.”
- “So here’s the thing. I’ve got someone in front of me in my studio, who looks me right in the eye and says I’d have stood up and he went further, I didn’t ask him if he would have applauded. He said I would have stood up, I would have applauded and then he explained his answer. You can choose to believe him or not, that’s a matter for you and for anyone who gets a vote in who’s going to be governor in Iowa. That’s a matter for you. I am just presenting what is the truth.”
- “All I am trying to get to is truth. I think we are owed the truth. The truth is, he was asked a direct question, he looked me straight in the eye, you heard his answer. I am not going to play it again. What came out that I’ve seen today is, as I say, economical with the truth.”
