    • Democratic candidate for Iowa governor and current State Auditor Rob Sand held a town hall in Jefferson on Tuesday at Pickaway Americana during his 100-stop town hall tour across Iowa.

    • Jefferson was his 41st stop of the tour, sixth stop of the day, and 737th town hall since being elected as state auditor in 2018.

    • The Democratic candidate is more focused on making Iowa “better and truer” rather than “redder or bluer,” a slogan he’s attached to his campaign as his policy ideas do not always align with typical Democratic policies and he is not afraid to stray away from his party.

    • Sand held a Town Hall, with over 60 people in attendance, so many that not all could fit in the meeting room the event was being held in.

    • “A lot of people who aren’t voters, aren’t voters because they think that this system is broken. I agree with them. And in fact, I’m not shy about saying it. I’ve been saying that for a long time…I’m not really interested in right versus left. I’m focused on right versus wrong. Or, the idea is not to have Iowa be redder or bluer, but better and truer. That resonates with people.”

    • Additionally, Sand also made a campaign stop in Jefferson at Pickaway Americana and Meeting House later in the evening, where about 80 people attended.

  • Calhoun County Phoenix: Sand Holds Townhall in Rockwell City

    • As part of his 100 Town Hall Tour, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand stopped by the Rockwell City Public Library on Aug. 19, 2025.
