Rob Sand Issues Statement on Supreme Court Striking Down Unconstitutional Tariffs That Have Hurt Iowa Farmers, Increased Costs on Families

DES MOINES, IA – Today, the Supreme Court of the United States issued a ruling striking down the unconstitutional tariffs implemented by Washington politicians that have hurt Iowa farmers and threatened to increase costs on families by $2,100 in 2026 alone. Candidate for governor Rob Sand issued the following statement: 

“No one has felt the squeeze of the reckless economic policies coming out of DC more than Iowa farmers. Today’s Supreme Court decision brings some much-needed relief. Iowa growers, producers, and hardworking families don’t need more chaos or higher prices from Washington — thankfully the Supreme Court fixed what Iowa’s politicians refused to.”

A recent report from the U.S. Senate Joint Economic Committee found that the average Iowa family has paid $1,303 in higher costs due to tariffs, and research from the Kiel Institute shows that American families and businesses are paying 96% of those higher costs from tariffs, while foreign companies pay just 4%.
